Yeading School Learning Pod

YEADING SCHOOL LEARNING POD

The Yeading School Learning Pod was designed to provide a flexible, supportive learning environment for a variety of student needs, with a particular focus on Special Educational Needs (SEN) students. The space accommodates small group activities for 4 to 5 children, ensuring a tailored, individualized approach to learning. The Pod allows for a dedicated Forest Schools resource space, an accessible Breakfast Club location, and an additional Intervention space to enhance the overall educational experience for the pupils.

Selected for its strategic proximity to the school’s existing Forest Schools Learning Zone, the site maximizes the potential for outdoor learning and engagement with nature. The location was also chosen due to its access to existing infrastructure, including water and foul water drainage services, which helped streamline the building’s design and construction.

Sustainability was a key consideration in the design, with the building featuring a sedum green roof, promoting biodiversity and reducing the environmental impact. This sustainable design element enhances the visual appeal of the building while contributing to the broader ecological goals of the school.

The Learning Pod not only supports the academic growth of its students but also fosters an environment where emotional and social development can thrive, thanks to its thoughtfully planned spaces and close connection to nature.

We have been pleased to work again with Yeading School following previous phases of works over a number of years. To see another project previously completed on site, see this portfolio page: Yeading Infant Nursery School
