Extensive refurbishment, alteration and extension were necessary to transform an existing family home into a bright, light, useable space for a new young family. Extending the property, opening it up to daylight and adding linked spaces helped create a family friendly kitchen, diner and snug. Additional spaces included a ‘grown-up’ lounge and study space to allow working from home. Refurbishment of existing smaller roof level rooms added guest spaces to accommodate family visits.
The new owners modern lifestyle was translated through updating the interior with modern fittings, a cool colour palette and new wooden flooring. With the extension walls finished with white render and English Sweet Chestnut cladding, the new was successfully emphasized from the old and the interior opened to the garden with a glazed corner.
Turner & Hoskins sourced a company to provide cavity wall insulation through the government-sponsored scheme for thermal improvements.
